How was the winner picked? With a random number generator. Each giveaway entry was assigned a number as they were received and determined by the management to be vaild (duplicate entries from same email address or entry name were deleted).
We used this form from Random.org to generate a randomized sequence of the entry numbers. We plugged in “1” as the smallest value and “1466” as the largest value (since there was 1466 valid entries). The 1st number generated in the sequence was the winning entry number.
The numbers generated did not contain duplicates (they're like lottery tickets drawn out of a hat).
